CON O’BRIEN

BCom; MBA – Chairman

Con is an independent Management Consultant and Author with over twenty five years experience in Organisational Strategy, Finance and Marketing. Over the last fifteen years, Con has published a number of books on Financial Strategy as well as providing consulting services to a broad spectrum of agencies in Western Australia, particularly business service organisations within the Disability Services Industry.

MIKE DONNELLY

Treasurer

Mike is the CEO of the Perth Market Authority which is responsible for the Canningvale Fresh Produce Market Complex. He has served in senior management positions within the agriculture, livestock and meat industries since 1989. Mike served as CEO of the WA Meat Industry Authority from 1995 to 2005. In 2002, Mike added to his tertiary training in agriculture and business management by completing the AICD Company Directors’ Course. Mike was appointed to the Board in 2006 and is committed to the provision of services and lifestyle options to people with disabilities.

PAUL ARNS

LLB

Paul is a Commercial Litigation Lawyer with his own practice in Perth, Western Australia. He was appointed to the Board in 2003 and has been associated with other community organisations prior to his involvement with Intework. Paul is married with two children. Sue Jones BAppSc (Physio), Grad Dip Public Sector Mgt. Sue is a Physiotherapist and the current Dean of Teaching and Learning within the Health Sciences Division at Curtin University. Sue taught in the School of Physiotherapy for over 15 years, and was appointed to the Board in 2007. Sue has served on the Board of Directors for the Australian Physiotherapy Association and is the former Chief Physiotherapist for the Authority for the Intellectually Handicapped.

ADRIAN PIERS

BSc (Hons), BEd (Special Ed.)

Adrian has been teaching in the area of High Support Education for over twenty years, working with the Gladys Newton School as Deputy Principal in 1995 progressing on to become Acting Principal of Gladys Newton, Burbidge and Landsdale Farm Schools. Adrian enjoys working with clients and their families, is focussed in his interest of including IT in the Education Support field and has established strong relationships with Post School Options agencies.

DI SHEPHARD

BSocSci

Di is currently the Senior Policy Officer for the Disability Services Commission and has served as an Executive Officer for the Developmental Disability Council of Western Australia, the Ministerial Advisory Council for Disability Services, the Policy, Planning and Information Council for the Disability Services Commission and the Council of DSC Funded Agencies. Di has been heavily involved in parental advocacy for Post School Options since 1980 and has served on many boards and committees of various associated disability service providers. Di is committed to focusing on the importance of Post School Options, utilising her professional and personal experience (her son Paul has Autism and an intellectual disability) in encouraging post school support and choices for school leavers and their families.

PAUL COUGAN

BAppSc (Medical Science) Post Grad Dip.

Paul is Manager of Water Treatment Systems Australia a water treatment company involved in environmental remediation. A recent move away from his pathology and medical software background. Previous experience as manager of marketing and medical liaison with PathWest and is currently active member of Hale Hockey and Sorrento Surf Lifesaving Club. Paul is married with three daughters, with Verity enjoying the special experience availed through Intework at Joondalup.

SUE JONES

BAppSc (Physio), Grad Dip Public Sector Mgt.

Sue is a Physiotherapist and the Dean of Teaching and Learning within the Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin University. Sue taught in the School of Physiotherapy for over 15 years, and was appointed to the Board in 2007. Sue has served on the Board of Directors for the Australian Physiotherapy Association and is the former Chief Physiotherapist for the Authority for the Intellectually Handicapped.

TONY SEXTON

Tony retired in December 2005 after working for over 50 years in several capacities. This included six years in the Signals Corp of the Australian Army serving mainly in Queensland with a period in Vietnam. After being in the Army, Tony was employed in sales, administration, marketing, purchasing and warehouse management in the construction, stationery and printing industries, overseas, nationally and locally. Tony is dedicated to family and social needs and has served in several volunteer positions including President of the Mt Lawley Primary School and Gladys Newton Education Support School, Parent and Citizen Committees. Tony and his wife Rosalie have a son Peter who is 32 years of age with Down Syndrome who has been a client of Intework for over 13 years. Both Tony and Rosalie have a strong commitment and involvement in promoting the needs of people with disabilities generally, and now a stronger involvement relating to adults with intellectual disabilities and their needs and rights. Tony joined the Board of Intework in October 2008.
