Important Information About Your Privacy
Intework recognises and supports the rights of all our clients and staff to privacy and confidentiality. In 2001, new laws about privacy came into effect which set strict standards about how we handle your personal information. The new laws are part of the Privacy Act 1988 which includes the National Privacy Principles.
Everyone has the right to privacy.
Intework has Policies and Procedures to ensure your rights are protected at all times. The protection of your privacy is very important to us. You can feel confident that we will comply with your rights to privacy in the following ways:
- We will only collect information about you with your knowledge and consent.
- We will be fair and open in the way we collect information if it is related to our work with you.
- We will keep your information in a secure place and only give certain information to people who are concerned with your program at Intework. Some of these people, for example, may be the Department of Family and Community Services, Disability Service Commission, Centrelink and/or employers.
- We will never give your information to anyone else unless required by law to do so.
- You can arrange to see your file whenever you want. We will fix any information that is wrong or out of date.
- We will allow you to deal with Intework without telling us your name, wherever practical, if that is what you want.
- You will be given a copy of our Policy on Privacy if you require it. Should you wish to know more, we will be happy to explain the rules we must follow to protect your information.
- We will explain the reasons we collect information, how we use it and what would happen if we do not have certain information that is required.
