Artists Win Major Award

"Nolan's Nightmare" wins the Ansett Golden Wings Award
Each year Ansett Golden Wings Club in association with ACROD limited hold an art competition for people with disabilities. This year there were over 200 fantastic entries ranging from painting, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture drawing, weaving and craft.

We were thrilled when it was announced that our group painting “Nolan’s Nightmare” had won the Excellence award, presented to the most outstanding overall entry.

A number of budding artists from our Intework Lifeskills program participated in creating our 3-meter painting, and after months of hard work our piece was finally finished.

After being displayed at the domestic terminal at Ansett airport, a presentation was held in the Golden Wing lounge where each participant was awarded a commemorative certificate.

“Nolan’s Nightmare” was then shown at the International Day of People with Disabilities 3rd December 2000. This brilliant piece of art was recently purchased by an Internet Company in Perth and is now proudly hanging in the prestigious Forrest Centre on St Georges Terrace Perth WA.

The prize money and proceeds from the Sale of “Nolan’s Nightmare” has been divided between all the artists involved, with some choosing to spend it on that special item they have been wanting while others save it up for that coming holiday or outing.

Congratulations to all the participants and we look forward to hopefully creating another award winning piece next year within our Lifeskills Program.
